The pantomime in February 2008 - Babes in the Wood - by Bob Heather & Roger Lamb was a great success - our first Panto for three years. Everyone really enjoyed it and are looking forward to next year's show!
We plan another "Dine with Drama" in autumn (plays and a meal).
Box Office line is 504993 or go via this site (info@kvpp.org.uk)
Our script this year will be from LazyBee Scripts which has a huge choice and variety.

In 1983, Daphne Whitlock (who had produced the Hampsthwaite Concert Party Shows) was keen to set up something similar in Killinghall. A public announcement was made at the Village Happening and Anne Holdsworth, Julie Davies, Nan Weeks and Daphne formed a Committee on 8th December with the brief to start a group in Killinghall.
The KVPP started from this initiative and was inaugurated on the 3rd May 1984 when Jack Stancombe was elected Chairman. The Village Hall Committee donated £40 to get us going.
The guiding principal of the KVPP is to "encourage participation in amateur productions by all age groups in the community".
We started our shows in 1984 with one based on the Second World War and set in the Killinghall of that time. Many of the youngsters who took part then, now have families of their own taking part in our latest productions.
Since then we have expanded our repertoire.
Annual Revues continued every February Half Term until 1994 when we had a change (after a short break) by moving on to Pantomimes
Later in the 90's we started to put on an annual Play in October
The photograph below is the cast of the 1984 Show!
Our pianist in 1984, Nancy Webster, was volunteered by her (now late) husband, who was on the KVPP committee. At the time he was helping washing up cups. She has been with us ever since. Central in the back row of this photograph (the army private) is Bob Richardson, previously our Chairman.
Our aims are to have fun and to give fun to others. We feel that it would be silly to have any other aims. But above that we have always tried to support local people and groups and below is a photograph showing Adam Johnson getting a cheque from our then Chairman to help towards his trip with Scouts to the 2002 World Jamboree in Thailand.
We have our stage in the Killinghall Village Hall but, sadly, only for the week of the performance itself. After the last night (and party), everything - from proscenium arch to clothes rails - is packed away and stored until next needed. The problem is due to the fact that our stage is placed at the join of the upright and cross of an "L" shaped building which is used most days of the week. By the way, our stage is 21 feet wide by 18 feet deep (until we put a set on it).
Therefore, in the past, on Friday evening of the week before performance all hands rushed around in a highly organised manner, bringing stuff from a garage in town; bolting together the 1x2 meter "tables" which form the stage, fixing up the superstructure, fitting the curtaining, decking out the changing rooms, erecting lights and mikes and props, putting out chairs (maximum 100), and, most important, supplying endless cups of coffee and tea! Saturday we finish off and check the Technicals. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are dress rehearsals and that's it! Until the next Sunday when - down it all comes! The gear which cannot be left at the Village Hall is now stored within the village which makes life a lot easier.
But, despite this, see what we can do!
